Dufour-Lapointe and Smyshlyaev best in FIS Freestyle Europa Cup mogul opening


Light snow fall and -6 degrees were pretty optimal conditions today at Suomu when the first Europa Cup mogul race was held.

Canadians were strong in ladies competition. Maxime and Chloe Dufour-Lapointe took the best two medals and Kristi Richards was third. With nice runs they all collected over 23 points.

In men’s category Russian team were hard to beat. Four out of six best places went to Russians. First was Alexandr Smyshlyeav over 1,5 points ahead of the second Anthony Benna from France and third Andrey Volkov. All of these men have been on the podium in the World Cup as well.

Finns were skiing well without their best skier Tapio Luusua. Harri Kyllönen collected 22.83 points and was fifth and young, 17-year-old Jussi Penttala was ninth with points 21.50.

Sunday Freestyle Premiere continues with the second Europa Cup event. Competition will start at 9.45 am with qualification round.
